Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken during ground reduction across the land to the north-east of a Grade II Listed timber-framed building recorded post holes containing large quantities of broken pottery. Also recorded were the remains of a small brick outbuilding, a salt-glazed channel running to a drain and a fragmentary yard surface. The brick outbuilding was of agricultural character. The post holes were probably the remains of a small timber framed structure. A small rectangular building appeared on the OS map of 1905 and it was likely that it was the remains of this building that was represented in the archaeological record. [Au(adp)] |
