Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment was undertaken in response to a proposal for a residential development. The site lay within the area designated as the historic village centre of Winlaton, a village which may have early medieval origins. The morphology of the village centre suggested that the site possibly occupied an area comprising the back plots of houses within the area settled during the post-medieval period. Further work in the form of an archaeological evaluation was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
