Abstract:
Desk-based assessment identified that the field partly occupying the proposed site for a residential development, which lay in the former garden if the Convent of the Sisters of Charity, had retained its shape and arable use since at least the 18th century. Documentary evidence refering to the quarrying of stone from the site for the construction of the convent buildings suggested that the garden area may have been disturbed to some considerable depth.
