Abstract: |
The principal features located during this evaluation were two gullies funning broadly east to west across the site, as well as a north-south oriented ditch. These features contained pottery of 11th to 13th century date. The alignment of the gullies at right angles to the medieval street and the ditch parallel to it were suggestive of medieval tenement boundaries or drainage features within these burgage plots. Post-medieval quarry pits and boundary walls were also encountered during the evaluation. [Au(abr)] |
