Abstract: |
Evaluation by machine trenching supplemented by hand digging within the area proposed for development revealed evidence suggesting post-medieval disturbance had probably truncated any earlier deposits in the western half of the site. In the eastern half of the site, three shallow ditches (presumed boundaries or drains), and a very small greensand block-lined culvert, all of probable medieval (13th-century) date were revealed.
