Abstract: |
The excavation of two test pits immediately adjacent to the 'Abbey Barn' revealed chamfered offsets on the wall below the present ground surface. The 'Barn', located in the outer court of the Abbey, was probably part of the Guest House or Abbot's Lodging. Against the south side of the building the apparent remains of an unmortared stone-flagged surface, recorded at approximately the same level as the chamfered offsets, may represent the remains of a corridor of medieval date associated with the 'Barn'.[AIP] |
