Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment was carried out on the site. The assessment identified that the proposed development area contained a railway dating to the early 17th century for the transport of coal and clay. By the 17th to 18th century the site was known to contain several blast furnaces and associated strutures. During the 19th century the site was used as a brickworks and contained kilns and mine shafts for clay. The site was used until recently as a concrete works. [Au(abr)] |
