Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment, with a metal-detecting survey was undertaken on land to be developed for housing. The metal detecting produced only 19th and 20th century finds. The desk-based assessment established the site as lying within the medieval village of Barnwell St Andrew, and near to, if not on, the site where a market was established in the 13th century, although it only lasted until 1279. There was no cartographic evidence for occupation of the site prior to c.1716. [AIP] |
