Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during topsoil stripping and the excavation of foundation trenches for a new cottage. The site lay in an area of shrunken medieval settlement and close to a possible plague burial site and it was thought that the excavations might disturb archaeological remains relating to this. No archaeological features were observed and finds of late 18th/early 19th century pearlware and blackware pottery were recorded. The spoil from the site was inspected and a small quantity of 18th century pottery and animal bone was observed. [Au(abr)] |
