Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken which identified that the study area was once the site of a Saxon and medieval market place. The construction of the present building could be traced back to the 17th century although earlier properties may have existed on the site. In 1920 the building was refurbished, a fire destroyed much of the first floor and all of the attic and roof and then reconstructed in 1952. [AIP] |
