Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on adjacent to Pershore Great Bridge, a Scheduled Ancient Monument. A pitched limestone surface and blue lias setts contemporary with the 1644 replacement of the central arches and a metalled surface to the late 18th century and the turnpike period were recorded. In addition, the base of a massive concrete structure thought to be an ammunition store, serving two pillboxes built on either end of the bridge belonged to the early 1940s. [AIP] |
