Abstract: |
A planning application was submitted for the conversion of several Grade II Listed buildings. The listed buildings were part of a programme of evaluation and recording. Four trenches were opened to assess the archaeological potential of the site. No archaeological remains were recovered to indicate that the site was in use before the very latest post-medieval or even the Georgian period. The earliest evidence was restricted to a few sherds of pottery which may have been residual or transported from elsewhere within the large amounts of levelling material which was imported into the site in the 18th or 19th century.
