Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out on the site which was 40m north of the wall ditch of Hadrian's Wall. There was a possibility that defensive pits were constructed to the north of the wall ditch. The majority of the works did not extend below the backfill and modern make-up, associated with pre-existing services and the modern road surface. Small areas of natural subsoil were exposed and the archaeological watching brief ensured that no deposits associated with Hadrian's Wall were disturbed during the works. [Au(adp)] |
