Abstract: |
(Following a desktop assessment and initial field survey on ì\nbehalf of the Department of Transport on the route of the ì\nproposed new road between Evesham and Alcester, seven possible ì\nsites (A - G) were identified that would be affected by the road ì\nconstruction and where evaluation work was necessary [AIP record: ì\nB.80.0001]. The evaluations, which were carried out between December ì\n1992 and August 1993, involved a programme of geophysical ì\nsurvey carried out by Geophysical Surveys of Bradford (Report No ì\n92/105), intensive fieldwalking and trial trenching\n[AIP records: C.80.0001 - 0007].)\n\nAt Site F, west of Wixford, 17 trial trenches accompanied ì\ngeophysical survey over a series of large cropmark enclosures ì\nprobably forming part of a field system (WA 4910). To the north ì\nthere was a ditch which contained a concentration of middle Iron ì\nAge pottery, suggesting the presence of settlement nearby. |
