Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out within part of the proposed site of a housing development. A shallow ditch containing 19th or 20th century brick, pottery and glass was revealed, but no further archaeological features were observed. It was thought that the ditch may have represented the edge of the town plots of Haslemere, but that if this were so, it had been cleaned out relatively recently. It may have represented a later field boundary. It was recommended that a watching brief should be maintained during development within the remainder of the site area, but that no further archaeological work would be necessary within this part of the site.
