Abstract: |
The assessment revealed a medieval ridge and furrow system across the whole of the study area. It was not possible to determine whether prehistoric or Romano-British remains survived beneath the ridge and furrow. Romano-British deposits were identified beneath the ridge and furrow during the construction of the golf course to the southeast of the study area. It is therefore possible that deposits and features pre-dating the medieval period still survived in the survey area. The groundworks associated with the driving range and the club house would therefore impact upon archaeological features from at least medieval date.[Au] |
