Desk-based assesment identifed that the proposal area comprised a landscape which had been the product of several phases of development. Evidence of Romano-British activity, pre-medieval settlement and other cultural remains, medieval settlement structures and agricultural activity, post-medieval reorganisation and improvement and post-medieval settlement and occupation were identified.
