Abstract: |
The assessment identified that the proximity of the site to the church, a destroyed manor house and a postulated deserted medieval settlement was considered a focus of archaeological concern. The church, with its burial ground, had always occupied the same site. The present site fell well outside of the ancient churchyard. The manor house was apparently to the north-west of the church. It was difficult to see any evidence for the suggested deserted medieval settlement. Indeed the map and other evidence were consistent with a common medieval arrangement in which the church, manor house and rectory were grouped together. No specific archaeological potential was attached of the area to be occupied by the new church hut. [Au(adp)] |
