Abstract: |
Three trial trenches were excavated across the site in order to fulfil a condition upon planning permission for the construction of a bungalow. Post holes, pits, ditches, a wall and possible ponds, were revealed within the trenches, a number of these dated from the Saxo-Norman period. Post-medieval activity included the creation of ponds, a number of which may have originally functioned as quarries. These would have destroyed or truncated any earlier features in their vicinity. Modern features including post holes, garden features and dumps within ponds were also identified. [Au(adp)] |
