Abstract: |
The assessment established that significant archaeological deposits were present within the area of the proposed development and that groundworks would risk damaging any surviving remains. The eastern boundary of the site was immediately adjacent to a section of the northern rampart of the Saxon town, which was designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Previous excavations on the site had revealed four phases of activity on the site, from the mid-Saxon or earlier to the post-medieval period. [Au(adp)] |
