Abstract: |
<summary>An evaluation, undertaken in three phases between September 1990 and April 1992 (and incorporating a minor watching brief during the excavation of pile holes in April 1991), confirmed the presence of Roman occupation in the proposed car park area fronting on to Priory Street; revealed a wall foundation of post-medieval date; and identified deposits of alluvium and peat to depths of 2.3 metres in the flood-plain of the River Lea - these deposits dating to the Post-Medieval period. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
