Abstract: |
A middle Saxon yard surface, two post holes, and five pits were found during the archaeological excavation. The lack of bone on the site indicated that the site was outside the graveyard previously found in the area, and indicated that it was of a domestic nature. The pottery and other finds indicated that four or the five pits were filled in the middle Saxon period, perhaps 750-850AD. The fifth pit produced no dateable finds, but was stratigraphically dated to the same period. Evidence of bone-working and metalworking industries were also recovered.[Au(abr)] |
