Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment identified that the site was located about 0.5km from the line of the Roman road from Sea Mills to Bath, adjacent to an area where finds of Roman date had been recovered, and to the north of an area containing numerous prehistoric and Roman sites. The site was shown to have lay within an area of deer park from the medieval period until being converted to arable farm sometime in the 18th century, and had suffered little disturbance prior to the construction of Church Road and the erection of prefabricated houses between 1946 and 1948.
