Abstract: |
An archaeological field evaluation was undertaken in advance of a proposed swimming pool construction between a house and the ramparts of an Iron Age Hill, a Scheduled Ancient Monument (23001). The work was carried out as part of a Scheduled Ancient Monument Consent application. No features of archaeological interest or unstratified finds were found during the trench excavation. The results provided further support for the view, based on the results of what was a considerable body of archaeological work within the hillfort, that there was little or no permanent settlement of the hillfort during the Iron Age. It was recommended that no further archaeological work was needed in relation to this development. [Au(adp)] |
