Abstract: |
Evaluation on the site of a proposed housing development, situated within the conjectured limits of a Romano-British small town, revealed that, with the exception of a single modern pit, the area had not been disturbed since Roman times. A moderately thick deposit of gravel though to be of Roman date sealed a number of pre-Roman Iron Age features. Artefactual finds were sparse, and mainly restricted to sherds of pottery and fragments of fired clay and tile. [Auth (adp)]. |
