Abstract: |
A Stage 2 Assessment Report for this road scheme collated information from a variety of sources on the natural background, land use and archaeological sites affected by the proposed road improvement. The results of earlier work were also included in the report. The assessment highlighted the large and important Roman site around Fiveways junction at the southern end of the route, as well as giving details of five small prehistoric sites , four small medieval sites and four cropmark sites of unknown date on or close to the route. In addition the major historic park at Little Glemham and Benhall Lodge Park were noted as landscapes of regional and local importance respectively. Finally recommendations were made for the preservation or investigation of archaeological sites affected by the proposed road improvement. [Au] |
