Abstract: |
A number of archaeologically significant features were revealed during the evaluation. Clay quarry works, brick surfaces, hearths, a possible clay soaking pond and a burnt area possibly representing a clamp kiln were recorded, all probably relating to 18th century brick making on the site. Remnant post-medieval ploughsoils were also recorded in the areas where they had not been removed by quarrying. A small assemblage of post-medieval and early modern finds were collected. [Au(abr)] |
