Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment was made of the proposed corridor of a new road bypass scheme. The only known sites were located at the southern end of the route, although the surrounding landscape was likely to have been intensively occupied during the late Bronze Age period. The fieldwalking excercise and desk-based study (including analysis of aerial photographic material) identified several areas of archaeological potential, including a possible Romano-British habitation site, possible prehistoric sites, an area of possible prehistoric, Roman and medieval activity and the course of a Roman road.
