Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of foundation trenches and soakaway pits at a construction site, where an earlier evaluation had identified various Roman and medieval features. During the watching brief, a small number of possible pits, a post-medieval brick-lined well and a feature which may have represented a wall foundation trench, a pit or a robber trench were observed. A possible gravel surface was also seen. It was noted that the unstable nature of the sides of the excavations had resulted in a general lack of opportunity for detailed inspection. [AIP] |
