Abstract: |
The watching brief at 1-3 Monkgate exposed substantial brick foundations for the standing part of the building and the demolished range at the rear of the property. The foundations were cut through a dark grey silt that forms part of the backfill of the moat that surrounded the city walls. The watching brief showed that the foundations of the building adjacent to the alley had previously been underpinned. [Au] |
