Abstract: |
The evaluation identified a stone-built cellar that had truncated archaeological deposits over much of the area. A small number of archaeological deposits had survived at the northern end of the trench, including the foundations of a possible medieval wall. This was sealed by a sequence of possible occupation horizons, which in turn were cut by a second possible medieval wall that lay parallel with Redcliff Street. An undated cobbled surface was also revealed, along with a post-medieval wall and several modern features. The evaluation also indicated that possible medieval deposits survived below the modern ground surface, but much of the frontage along Redcliff Street has been heavily cellared, and all archaeological deposits removed.
