Abstract: |
The evaluation comprised the excavation of four trial pits. A mixture of medieval and post-medieval pottery was recovered from most layers, but from basal deposits only medieval pottery of 13th-15th century date were present. A single sherd of Romano-British pottery from a base deposit was not considered significant. It was likely that much of the overburden in the central area of the site had been imported for terracing, but the basal deposits were considered to be in situ medieval soil horizons. [Au(abr)] |
