Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during refurbishment works on the site which was located on or near to the location of the Principia of the Legionary garrison. Undisturbed deposits were revealed on the bottom of the excavations which were similar to those of Anglo-Scandinavian date found on other sites. No remains of the Roman period were found, although remains of that period may have lain at a lower level than reached by the excavations. [Au] |
