Abstract: |
The evaluation identified a single small undated oval pit containing a charcoal rich fill. Although the pit contained no dating evidence, the presence of a small quantity of burnt flint may have suggested a prehistoric origin. The pit had been sealed by a layer of alluvium associated with the River Cole. The fieldwork also demonstrated that ground levels had been artificially raised in recent times, probably during the construction of the school in the 1960s. [Au(abr)] |
