Abstract: |
The evaluation consisted of 13 machine-cut trenches distributed across an area of c.1 hectare. Despite the proximity of Mesolithic sites and a Romano-British settlement and cemetery just to the south, few archaeological finds were made. The only artefacts recovered were a few pieces of burnt flint and post-medieval brick or tile. Extensive early Holocene deposits were encountered, lying beneath variable depths of alluvium.
