Abstract: |
Refurbishment works at 43 Blossom Street were subject to an archaeological watching brief. Beneath a Victorian floor Roman deposits were discovered, no signs of a structure were found so it was assumed that the deposits were dumps. Pottery sherds ranged in date over the whole of the Roman period in Britain, but the large amount of Samian and lack of calcite gritted ware indicated an earlier date within that period for the assemblage.
