Abstract: |
Consultation of documentary and map-based archives indicated no recorded archaeological findspots or features within the study area predating the two buildings, and a series of orchard/garden plots, shown within the site on 19th century maps. The application area lay on the periphery of the historic town, c. 500 metres northwest of the conjuctured focus of Anglo-Saxon settlement and some 350 metres west of the medieval manor and market place.
