Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken during groundworks associated with the construction of a soakaway drain. Groundworks in the northern half of the soakaway revealed no archaeological features or finds. A ditch of possible Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age date was recorded in the southern portion of the soakaway, adjacent to the earlier evaluation and probably associated with the features recorded therein. No further archaeological features were recorded and no trace of the continuing line of the possible trackway was found. The proximity of Bullockstone Road to the east combined with the test pit evidence of disturbance suggested that the majority of the archaeological deposits along the line of the soakaway had been removed by previous modern landscaping / construction activity.
