Abstract: |
The excavation revealed a series of possible prehistoric features overlain by alluvial deposits. Artefacts dating to the medieval and late medieval periods were recovered from these deposits suggesting an active shoreline environment. Partial remains of structures of 16th-18th century date were evidenct, however there were no associated occupation surfaces. The Tithe Map of 1838 showed a building in the position of the present building which was thought to have been the Black Dog public house. [Au(adp)] |
