Abstract: |
Desk-based study of land proposed for development identified that prior to the enclosure of the 18th and 19th centuries, the study area was part of Hanham Common. Field boundaries were shown by cartographic evidence to have changed little since the tithe award of 1842 when the fields were being used for mixed arable and pasture farming. Features identified within the proposal area comprised one relict pond, possibly connected to other ponds by a conduit, and a possible mine shaft. [AIP] |
