Abstract: |
Fieldwalking was carried out at a proposed development site, which was considered to have a high potential for evidence of prehistoric and Roman activity, as substantial cropmark complexes had been recorded to the north, west and east. During the survey, a very low density of artefacts was recovered, comprising a sherd of probable Roman pottery, a sherd of 11th-12th century cooking pot, six medieval sherds, two fragments of late medieval/early post-medieval pottery, 29 pieces of tile and three pieces of probable worked flint. It was concluded that there was no evidence to suggest the presence of significant archaeological remains within the proposal area. [AIP] |
