Abstract: |
The desk-based assessment established that there were no archaeological remains within the site itself, however, a concentration of prehistoric and early historic activity was recorded some 500m to the west, and Roman material to the south, east and north of the site. The site was developed within agricultural land from the end of the 18th century. This process began with the presence on the site by 1788 of a set of farm buildings called Kemps Farm, shown on a map of that date. These buildings were of interest as they represented an early post suburban phase of development and elements of them may well have been preserved. [Au(abr)] |
