Abstract: |
A programme of archaeological monitoring was undertaken during groundwork. The works involved the reduction of ground in preparation for the formation of parking areas with walling and associated street furniture. Two dry-laid limestone culverts/drains were recorded. These two drains may have been medieval/post-medieval in date and associated with the current no.53 Long Street, or with a previous building on the site. A possible medieval/post-medieval pit was also recorded. It was cut through the top of a possible demolition layer, which covered the drains. [Au(adp)] |
