Abstract: |
The archaeological excavations at Stannon Down were targeted upon two prehistoric ring cairns, a linear cairn and a substantial prehistoric boundary. A round house and the sections of eight prehistoric boundaries were also recorded. Bronze Age and Iron Age pottery, stone artefacts and a blue glass bead were recovered from the excavations. The majority of the sites were believed to date to the Earlier Bronze Age. Importantly, however, some evidence for occupation during the Iron Age was also identified within one of the sites.
