Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring was undertaken in response to the proposed extension of the gravel quarry. Bronze Age occupation had been recorded during the evaluation of the previous scheme of quarrying on the adjacent site. The monitoring of the stripped ploughsoil revealed two hearths and two pits. Flint scatters from the overlying ploughsoil and their proximity to the Bronze Age pits discovered previously suggest the two sites are related, and that this represents the continuation of the low intensity occupation across Lackford Hall heath during the Bronze Age.
