Abstract: |
From the available information, evidence of relatively intense Roman occupation in the upper Bulbourne valley connected with the Cow Roast settlement had been located close to the assessment site and could have extended into it. Following the Roman period, the site was open meadowland until the construction of Dudswell House in the late medieval period. It was clear that the site lay within the area of medieval farmyards and buildings which were subsequently removed and replaced by an orchard and a Dutch barn. [Au] |
