Abstract: |
The evaluation of land to the rear of, and including 69 Queen Street, comprised the excavation of four trenches. Almost all earlier surfaces had been removed down to the natural sand during development of the site in the late 19th century. The only area retaining intact buried soils was within the garden to the rear of number 69, which was overlain by c.1.2m of overburden. No archaeological features were observed within the buried soil and a large amount of post-medieval pottery, brick and bone fragments were recovered. [Au] |
