Abstract: |
An evaluation was undertaken on land proposed for development where cropmarks of an enclosure complex had been further defined by a magnetometer survey. A Late Iron Age-Roman quadrilateral enclosure complex was defined dating to between the 2nd century BC and the late 3rd-century AD, consisting of a central enclosure of c.3400 metres square bounded by a large V-shaped ditches, with smaller extensions adjoining the east and possibly the west sides. Due to the lack of internal features and artefactual material it was suggested that the site functioned as a stock enclosure. [Au] |
