Abstract: |
Fourteen 19m to 24.4m by 1.6m trial trenches were excavated across the site in advance of the construction of eight houses. No deposits of archaeological interest were located and there was no evidence for additional deposits relating to a medieval manorial complex immediately to the east of the site. Two finds of struck flints, including a leaf-shaped arrowhead of earlier Neolithic date, pointed to a low level of prehistoric activity in the area but were not indicative of extensive occupation of the site or its immediate environs.
