Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was prepared for a plot of land to the north of Pinden Quarry. A review of existing archaeological and historical sources suggested that the site had a high potential for containing archaeological deposits of prehistoric to Romano-British date, based on the proximity of excavated features located elsewhere in the quarry and cropmarks visible on air photographs. The site was considered to have had a low potential for containing archaeological deposits of Anglo-Saxon to post-medieval date, although the possibility of locating former field boundaries and deneholes was highlighted-the southern boundary of the site was formed by a historic hedgerow forming a historic parish boundary. Recent intensive faming was likely to have truncated archaeological deposits across much of the site to an unknown extent. [Au(adp)] |
